Two guys, one lost PDF, and a mission to kill the tourist trap forever.
It started simple. Every summer, friends would ask the same thing: "Where should I eat? What beach is actually good? Where do locals hang out?"
So a PDF guide was made. Then the source file was lost. Then came the idea—why not build a space where anyone can share their local knowledge, beautifully, and it actually stays updated?
We soft-launched in August 2024. Now we're building belokal into the travel platform we always wished existed: real recommendations from real people. No algorithms pushing sponsored content. No 10,000-review noise.
Just your cool friend in every city, showing you the spots tourists miss.

Get in touchOur commitment to ethical travel
Tourism changes places—and not always for the better. From rising rents to overcrowded neighborhoods, overtourism can make life harder for locals.
At belokal, we believe in ethical travel: moving through the world with curiosity, respect, and self-awareness. Support small businesses, explore beyond the obvious, and experience places on their own terms.
Be a guest, not a disruption. Travel isn't just about where you go—it's about how you show up.
We're just getting started. Download the app, share your spots, become a lokal.
